Dr. Lucinda Bateman, a nationally and internationally recognized expert on ME/CFS (myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome) and fibromyalgia, recently published a series of patient education videos on the Bateman Horne Center website. This free six-video series addresses some of the most troubling aspects of ME/CFS, including sleep disturbances, orthostatic intolerances, pain, and cognitive impairment.
I was fortunate to work with Dr. Bateman at the Bateman Horne Center, where I learned so much about ME/CFS and the difficulties people have in dealing with this debilitating disease. You won’t find a more caring, dedicated medical professional who understands and nurtures her patients.
The first video in the series addresses getting the right diagnosis. Sometimes it’s difficult to determine whether someone has ME/CFS or fibromyalgia. Some think that these diseases are the same, but in different positions on a spectrum. It’s even more complicated because one can meet the criteria for BOTH ME/CFS AND fibromyalgia. In my experience, people with fibromyalgia say that their defining symptom is pain, while those with ME/CFS more commonly complain of extraordinary and incapacitating fatigue. Dr. Bateman explains the differences and gives you the details in the first video in the series. Access is free, but you have to sign up (give your name and email address).
Take a look at this amazing series of videos to help you learn more about these diseases and how to cope with your symptoms.
I HOPE IT HELPS.
